Have you ever heard of the phrase a “cozy mystery?” If not, a cozy mystery is a mystery where the crime-solver is an amateur sleuth. Usually, the crime-solver is an educated female that has certain skills that she will utilize to solve a crime that comes her way. She usually works closely with the local police department and has an inside connection through her best friend, husband or significant other who is on the force. This conveniently helps her find out information about different cases that most in a close-knit community would not have access to.

 

The book Mardi Gras Murder is the 4th book of a cozy mystery series by Ellen Byron. The book’s cozy mystery heroine Magnolia Marie (Maggie) Crozat uses her keen eye in observing other’s body language, and works alongside her detective boyfriend, Bo Durand, to solve two murders. The first murder was of a stranger who was found without a wallet or ID. The second murder was of Gerard Damboise, who is the head judge of the highly competitive Miss Pelican Mardi Gras Gumbo Queen beauty pageant competition in Pelican, Louisiana. Maggie believes that both murders are somehow connected and is determined to get the killer unmasked.

The Mardi Gras Murder is available at the Bellevue University Library and is located in the general collection. All books can be borrowed for 21 days with the option of renewal.
