ELECTRONIC BOOKS

Not all the books in the library are kept on the shelves.  In fact, thousands of books are available in electronic format and reside in various library databases, such as Ebooks on EBSCOhost, ebrary Business and Economics Collection and Psychology and Social Work Collection, Gale Virtual Reference Library, Oxford Reference Online, PsycBOOKS, Salem History Database, Credo Reference and others.  Electronic books are catalogued in eCatalog just like any other book.  They can be identified by the "electronic resource" designation after the title. They will also have either the E-Book prefix before the call number or the name of the database.  Electronic books are digital, full-text versions of print books. They are available 24 hours a day and can be accessed from any computer with an internet connection. There is no need to come into the library to use an electronic book. This makes life much easier for online students.

A typical record in eCatalog for an electronic book looks like this:

This tells you that Above the Clouds is an electronic book and is available in Ebrary.  Electronic books may be accessed directly from eCatalog; look for these words: BELLEVUE: Access limited to Bellevue University patrons - click here to view. If you are not already logged into the databases, you will be prompted to do so. You may also access this book directly from the database it is located in - just check the Location at the bottom of the Item Information, then find the database on the Database Services portal.
